Rotisserie Convection Oven
For those who enjoy chicken or turkey, a rotisserie convection oven may be the perfect addition to your home. Combining the powers of a rotisserie, with the effective, quick cooking of the convection oven, you can have the restaurant style rotisserie chicken you enjoy in the comfort of your own home.
When you are purchasing a rotisserie convection oven, there are several things that you will want to keep in mind. First, these ovens require a stable source of electricity. If you have known power fluctuations in your home or apartment, you will want to resolve these problems before you use a rotisserie convection oven. Power fluctuations will affect how efficiently your convection oven functions, and may interrupt the rotation process.
In addition to this, you will need to consider how much counter space you are willing to use on your rotisserie convection oven. If you are willing to store your oven away after each time you use it, you can get a larger rotisserie. The standard rotisserie will allow you to cook one chicken at a time. For residential homes, you can usually find a more expensive rotisserie that will hold two chickens at one time. The most expensive styles of rotisseries can usually fit up to three chickens at one time.
When you are using a rotisserie convection oven, you will need to make certain that you leave enough room in the rotisserie that the chicken can have air circulating completely around it. As a convection oven functions by stripping the cool layer of air that surrounds most cooking foods and allowing heat to penetrate the meat directly, overfilling a convention oven can cause the meat to cook unevenly and drastically slow the cooking time. As some poultry cooks at a lower cooking temperature, this can result in the meat not being completely done.
It is suggested that you leave at least one and a half inches of clearance on all sides of the chicken, including any space the bars in the rotisserie may rotate. You may want to tie the chicken’s legs and wings with string to prevent them from slipping out of place and dragging along the outer walls of the convection oven. Tying the legs and wings will also help prevent the chicken from losing its shape or have the legs fall off when the chicken is properly done.
You should use a meat thermometer when you finish cooking with your rotisserie convection oven to confirm that your poultry is completely done.
